From flexible film and food packaging to precision beauty components – integrated into existing manufacturing infrastructure across multiple countries.
September 2, 2026 (Tokyo) — Okeanos®, which develops sustainable materials to replace conventional plastic packaging, has been invited to Tokyo as a recipient of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s “GX Foreign Companies Market Entry Support Project,” and is ramping up efforts to collaborate with Japanese manufacturers and brand owners. By August 2026, commercial production of packaging products adopting Made From Stone™ has been gradually expanded by multiple partner companies, with applications broadening from flexible to rigid packaging. The foundation of this collaboration is our track record of commercial production across multiple packaging sectors with vastly different manufacturing requirements. In all cases,
Made From Stone™ requires no new capital investment and is directly integrated into existing manufacturing infrastructure.
From flexible packaging to rigid packaging — Proven commercial production experience
Made From Stone™ is currently commercially produced across multiple application fields.
・Bags for home delivery and e-commerce delivery (Argentina) and plastic bags and carry bags (Latin American countries): Commercial-scale production in the flexible packaging film sector
・Household Packaging (USA, Thailand): Demonstration of performance in geographically diverse manufacturing environments
・Food contact packaging (Ecuador): Demonstration of applicability to rigid and semi-rigid formats
・Fragrance Cap Parts (Brazil): Produced using Made From Stone™ for O Boticário’s luxury fragrance line ‘Eudora Royal’. It meets precise finishing requirements, including suitability for metallization (metal deposition) processing
LCA data by application and QR platform
For each application, product-specific life cycle assessment (LCA) data is generated that quantifies plastic reduction amounts and CO₂ reduction effects. This data can be used for ESG reporting by brand owners,
Through the Made From Stone™ QR platform, it also functions as a collaborative branding tool that allows consumers to directly communicate verified environmental information at the point of purchase.
Significance for Japanese Manufacturers — Track Record of Integration into Manufacturing Infrastructure
For Japanese manufacturers and brand owners, what matters is not the number of countries they deploy in, but their track record of integration into manufacturing infrastructure. Flexible packaging films using inflation molding, semi-rigid extrusion molding for food contact, and manufacturing precision rigid parts are processes with different equipment, processing conditions, and quality standards.
Made From Stone™ has achieved commercial production on existing production lines in all of these areas. What Japanese manufacturers need is not a single success story, but a track record that transcends formats.
Additionally, the Plastic Resource Circulation Promotion Act, enacted in 2022, requires businesses to work to reduce plastic usage. Materials that can significantly reduce plastic content per product are a direct option when considering such measures. For details on applicable obligations, please contact your company’s legal and compliance department.
“Japanese manufacturers have some of the strictest quality and process standards in the world. Made From Stone™ is already in commercial production for packaging formats relevant to the Japanese market, such as flexible packaging films, food contact applications, and precision components. What we are showing here is not technology under development, but production achievements.”
